Thelwell spent four years at Morehead State before announcing his decision to play for Fran McCaffery’s Hawkeyes. He averaged 10.0 points and 6.2 assists per game and was the heart of an Eagles team that punched a ticket to last season’s NCAA tournament.

He projects as the starting point guard for next season, as last year’s point guard Tony Perkins announced that he is heading to play for Missouri next season.
