Penn State men's basketball projected starting 5: Ace Baldwin Jr. is back
By Justin Segal
Baldwin is the cornerstone of Penn State basketball. He had a career season for the Nittany Lions, averaging the most points, assists, and steals per game for a single season in his college career. Baldwin brings his confidence and swagger to the court every night and is the reason why the Nittany Lions sustained success, even after guard Kanye Clary was dismissed from the program last February.
The reigning Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year will certainly slide into the starting point guard slot for his fifth college season, evidently all with Rhoades. Baldwin is the most valuable player to this basketball team, and they will need him to keep showcasing his skills in the rigorous Big Ten conference next season.
Rhoades will be looking for Baldwin to become more efficient next season, as he only shot 38.9% from the field and 32.9% from three. It is clear how important he is to this team, as he shot 44.3% from the field in wins versus 34.3% from the field in losses last season.
I am confident that Baldwin will shoot more efficiently next season, as there seemed to be an adjustment period last season. With the offseason acquisitions and the restructuring of the roster, Baldwin will project as a racking force again in one of the best conferences in college basketball.
