Penn State is trending towards losing a four-star running back commit to Auburn

On3 is reporting that class of 2025 running back commit Alvin Henderson is likely to flip his commitment to Auburn. This would hurt Penn State’s 2025 recruiting class significantly, but might lead another running back recruit to commit to the Nittany Lions.

Alvin Henderson, a top 125 recruit in the 2025 class, is trending towards de-committing from Penn State. On3 reporters Steve Wiltfong and Chad Simmons posted a tweet predicting that Henderson will flip and play for the Auburn Tigers.

Henderson hails from Elba, Alabama, and would be returning to play in his home state. His commitment to Penn State did not stop the Tigers in their pursuit of him, ultimately and likely convincing him to stay down south.

This move might have a domino effect, as four-star running back recruit Jabree Wallace-Coleman is taking an official visit to Penn State today, June 21st. With the news circulating around Henderson, this might lead Wallace-Coleman to more heavily consider playing for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State’s recruiting class would take a significant hit, as Henderson ranks in the top five among 2025 Penn State commits. They have two other running back commits in the 2025 class, however, Tiqwai Hayes and Kiandre Barker. Penn State also has Quinton Martin Jr from their 2024 class, who has been impressive in offseason workouts and camp so far.

Losing Henderson would hurt a lot, and Penn State fans have already shown disappointment in the news. However, it would not be the end of the world. Franklin has shown his ability to recruit running backs, even if they do not live up to their potential. He will find more talented guys like Henderson, either through recruiting or the transfer portal.

Along with Franklin, it is worth mentioning how great running backs and assistant head coach Ja’Juan Seider has been for Penn State football. Nittany Lions fans should trust him to keep the position in check and recruit players who will flourish in the blue and white.
