Not only have the Nittany Lions not beaten UNC football, but Penn State has yet to score a single point against the Tar Heels. The only matchup came on October 2, 1943, which UNC won in Chapel Hill, 19-0.
In 1943, Bob Higgins led Penn State to a 5-3-1 record and was four years away from his only undefeated season as the head coach of the Nittany Lions.
In 2024, the Pac-12 will dissolve, with the best pieces leaving for the Big Ten. The ACC could be the next conference on the chopping block, so there is a chance that UNC and Penn State become regular opponents at some point in the future.
