Penn State is 0-3 all-time against the Florida Gators, and the most recent matchup came in the 2011 Outback Bowl. In that matchup, Penn State outgained Florida 350-279, but Matt McGloin threw five interceptions in the 37-24 loss.

The first time the teams ever met was back in the 1962 Gator Bowl when the heavily favored Nittany Lions also turned the ball over five times in a loss.

The other loss was the 1998 Citrus Bowl which Florida won 21-6, one year removed from its first national title.
