Every Penn State wide receiver recruit scheduled for an official visit to Happy Valley this summer

Penn State has the right quarterback with Drew Allar and the right play-caller in Andy Kotelnicki, but the Nittany Lions desperately need to add wide receiver talent this offseason to compete in the Big Ten.

Penn State fans are always going to follow offseason recruiting to get a hopeful glimpse into the future of the team. While those who have loved Linebacker U for years still get excited about linebackers and running backs coming to Happy Valley, most supporters of the team have turned their attention to the wide receivers in the 2025 class.

Drew Allar was severely limited in his first season as the Nittany Lions starting quarterback by a lack of weapons and questionable play calling. Well, James Franklin replaced Mike Yurcich with Andy Kotelnicki which is a huge upgrade on the sideline, but Franklin’s staff hasn’t done enough to upgrade the receiver room heading into 2024.

This offseason, KeAndre Lambert-Smith, Dante Cephas, Malik McClain, Malick Meiga, and Cristian Driver all found new homes through the portal, and Julian Fleming was Penn State’s only portal addition at receiver.

The Nittany Lions did add three-stars Josiah Brown, Peter Gonzalez, and Tyseer Denmark, along with five-star tight end Luke Reynolds, but Franklin and Kotelnicki absolutely have to prioritize playmakers on the outside in the 2025 recruiting cycle, or else Penn State will stay as a second-tier Big Ten contender.

Lyrick Samuel has already committed to the Nittany Lions in 2025, but it’s crucial to land commitments from at least two of the other eight wide receivers who are scheduled for official visits to Happy Valley this summer.
