Unlike last season, Penn State and West Virginia aren’t kicking off the season in primetime, but the Nittany Lions and Mountaineers will have FOX’s top broadcasting team at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia this Saturday for Week 1.

FOX regularly features the best Big Ten game as a part of its Big Noon Saturday coverage with Mark Ingram II, Matt Leinart, Urban Meyer, Brady Quinn, and Rob Stone on site for the Big Noon Kickoff pregame show, leading into the matchup.

WVU doesn’t come into the season ranked, but after a 9-4 record in 2023 saved Neal Brown’s job, plenty of eyes will be on Morgantown to see if the Mountaineers can upset No. 8 Penn State. With the expansion to a 12-team College Football Playoff Format, James Franklin’s team is favored to play for a shot at the national title.

West Virginia could not only play spoiler in Week 1, like Georgia Tech did over in Dublin, Ireland in Week 0, beating No. 10 Florida State, but the Mountaineers could play themselves into CFP consideration. Along with the Aflack Kickoff Game featuring No. 1 Georgia and No. 14 Clemson, Penn State and West Virginia is one of the most consequential Week 1 matchups and one of the most longstanding rivalries.

This will be the 61st all-time meeting between Penn State and West Virginia. The Nittany Lions have a head-to-head record of 49-9-2.
