After landing four-star Jahmir Joseph, who might be the next 2025 Penn State commit?
By Justin Segal
The Nittany Lions struggled slightly in their recruiting efforts for their 2024 class, ranking 15th in the country. For Penn State standards, that is not exceptional, and the reasonable expectation is for them to have a top twelve or so recruiting class annually.
As the 2025 recruits take more official visits and begin to declare their commitments, Penn State ranks 10th in the country for the 2025 football recruiting class.
Penn State recently landed Jahmir Joseph, a four-star cornerback from New Jersey. It was a quick series of events, after he just took an official visit to Penn State on June 14th that convinced him to play for the Nittany Lions.
Now Penn State fans will wonder who will become the next commitment for Franklin’s 2024 class. Here are five recruits that it might be.
Jeff Exinor Jr., WR
Exinor is a four-star 6’2 wide receiver from Owings Mills, Maryland. He recently visited Penn State on June 7th, and is seemingly a prioritized target for the Nittany Lions. Exinor also has a visit to Maryland on June 21st, and visited Virginia Tech on April 12th.
National Recruiting Analyst for 247sports Brian Dohn placed a crystal ball on Exinor to Penn State last week with a medium confidence rating. Exinor has a 92% accuracy rating on his predictions, so it seems like Exinor will become a Nittany Lion, however it might not be the next commit for Franklin and staff.
Brandon Finney, CB
Finney is a four-star 6’2 cornerback from Owings Mills, Maryland. Finney and Exinor are teammates at the McDonogh School, and are both major targets on each side of the ball for Penn State. Finney took an official visit to Penn State on May 31st, has visited Ohio State, South Carolina, and has one upcoming scheduled at Oregon.
The Nittany Lion faithful will be hoping that Ohio State doesn’t take yet another recruit from them, but they seem confident in landing Finney. Expect Finney to commit to a school in the next week or so, and it could very well be Penn State.
Naeshaun Montgomery, WR
Montgomery is a four-star 6’1 wide receiver from Miami, Florida. He has an official visit to Penn State on June 21 and has already visited the University of Florida on May 31st. It seems to be a two-horse race for Montgomery, and he has the option to stay in his home state, or come to Happy Valley and wear the blue and white.
National Recruiting Analyst for 247sports Tom Loy placed a medium confidence crystal ball on Montgomery to Penn State back in March, but Blake Alderman, a Florida Insider for 247sports, placed one on Montgomery to Florida this week. A convincing visit from Franklin and his staff might turn the tides on Montgomery, and hopefully, he chooses Beaver over the Swamp.
Malachi Goodman, IOL
Goodman is a four-star 6’5 interior offensive lineman from Paramus, New Jersey. He came to University Park for an official visit on May 31st. Goodman is highly coveted, and he has visited Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, and Illinois in recent weeks, while he has a visit scheduled to USC on June 21st.
Landing Goodman might be wishful thinking, but out of those schools, he has visited Penn State the most, taking two unofficial visits and one official visit. I don’t believe he will be the next Penn State commit, but keep an eye on him as his recruiting process progresses.
Lex Cyrus, WR
Cyrus is a four-star 5’10 wide receiver from Harrisburg, PA. He took an official visit to Penn State on May 31st and Dohn placed a crystal ball on him to Penn State back in February. Cyrus has garnered a lot of interest from the University of South Carolina, as he took an official visit there on June 7th.
Cyrus hailing from Harrisburg evidently helps the Nittany Lions’s chances of landing him. Franklin understands that wide receiver is a position of need, as Cyrus, Montgomery, and Exinor all might (hopefully) commit to Penn State soon.
Jabree Wallace-Coleman, RB
Wallace-Coleman is a four-star 6’0 running back from Philadelphia, PA. Wallace-Coleman has an official visit to Penn State on June 21st. He recently visited the University of North Carolina on June 11th, and has warm interest from Michigan State, per 247sports.
Wallace-Coleman is more likely to come to Penn State now that four-star running back Penn State commit Alvin Henderson is trending to flip to Auburn. Keep an eye out for Wallace-Coleman’s status after he visits Penn State.
