2 biggest losses for Penn State football in the transfer portal
By Josh Yourish
Frankly, the same logic applies to Driver. Penn State needs wide receivers. The Nittany Lions added just one through the portal and lost two, that’s not promising.
In his one season on the field, Driver caught just one pass for eight yards, so he was a complete unknown, and in fairness, if he couldn’t beat out Lambert-Smith, Cephas, and freaking Sean Clifford’s little brother for snaps, then he’s almost certainly a loss that James Franklin and Andy Kotelnicki can stomach.
However, Driver was a four-star safety in the 2022 high school class, and the Nittany Lions flipped him around to the offensive side and have gotten no production. James Franklin was particularly aggressive in the portal this season, but that’s not how he builds out his roster. So, Franklin getting nothing out of a four-star is a tough blow to a team that needs everything to go right to knock off Ohio State and Michigan in the Big Ten.
