10 greatest quarterbacks in Penn State Nittany Lions history
By Josh Yourish
There’s no doubt that Kerry Collins is the best quarterback in Penn State history and the man who Drew Allar and every other future Penn State quarterback is chasing. After a mediocre 1993 campaign, Collins led the best offense in Penn State history in 1994, an undefeated year that ended with a Rose Bowl victory over Oregon.
In ‘94, Collins threw for 2,679 yards, averaged 10.1 yards per attempt, completed 66.7% of his passes, and finished with 21 touchdowns to seven interceptions. Penn State won its first Big Ten Championship while Collins took home the Davey O’Brien Award as the National top quarterback and split Heisman Trophy votes with Ki-Jana Carter, allowing the award to go to Rashaan Salaam of Colorado.
Collins is the only modern era Penn State quarterback in the College Football Hall of Fame.
