During Penn State football's White Out game vs. USC on Saturday night, wide receiver Chase Sowell sustained an injury at the very end of the first half with less than 30 seconds remaining on the clock.
With the Nittany Lions trying to strip time off the clock while also putting themselves in at least field goal position, the officials called an injury timeout for Sowell who was down on the field. This was after a third down attempt by Penn State that ultimately failed, bringing up fourth-and-three.
Per Tyler Donohue of Lions247, Sowell appears to have a foot/ankle injury. He limped off the field with trainers by his side, but did not need their help getting the sideline despite the slight limp. According to Joe Smeltzer of Nittany Sports Now, Sowell went into the injury tent after he got off the field.
Chase Sowell came to the sideline with what appeared to be a right foot/ankle issue. Walked off on his own, but with a slight limp.

Something for Penn State's staff to sort through during halftime. https://t.co/BuGLpQJyuH
Wide receiver Chase Sowell sustains potential foot/ankle injury during White Out vs. USC
Penn State has halftime to determine whether Sowell will be good to go for the remainder of the game or not.
The senior wideout leads the Nittany Lions in receiving. So far, he's had four catches for 95 yards, hauling in 100 percent of his targets and tacking on 24 yards after catch as well. He's helped quarterback Rocco Becht unlock the deep passing game in this Week 6 contest, which is something the offense struggled with against Big Ten teams without wide receiver Koby Howard.
Penn State tied the contest just before halftime with a 48-yard field goal attempt by Ryan Barker. Both teams headed in their respective locker rooms with 17 points apiece.
Second half injury update: Chase Sowell returns to game
Sowell is back out on the field the start the second half. He doesn't appear to be limited in movement or range of motion.
On the NBC broadcast, it was shared that head coach Matt Campbell said Sowell was "good to go" coming out of halftime.
Sowell will be crucial for this offense if he continues his hot start to the game. His first target on first-and-10 went incomplete as the ball was tipped and thrown slightly behind him as well. The ball was almost picked off, but ultimately brought up second-and-10. Had the throw been on target and not interfered with, Sowell would have likely added a touchdown to his Week 6 resume.
