Penn State football's Pro Day on Wednesday, March 18 was an opportunity for former Nittany Lions to impress NFL scouts, whether they were at the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine or not.
Baltimore Ravens make it clear who their 1st Round 2026 NFL Draft target is
For the 2025 wide receiver room in Happy Valley, those pass-catchers didn't earn invitations to Indianapolis, Ind. for the combine. With that in the back of two wide receivers' heads, they made the most of their opportunity on Wednesday.
Wide receiver Trebor Pena and Devonte Ross shine at Penn State's 2026 Pro Day
Trebor Pena and Devonte Ross had huge days at State College. While their numbers weren't necessarily too competitive with those at the combine, they were enough to put their names on scouts' and teams' radars come April. Either late-round picks or undrafted free agent signings could be in the cards for both former Penn Staters.
Ross had the fastest 40-yard dash of the day at 4.45 seconds. This wasn't in the top 20 when comparing his time to those at the scouting combine, but he had a vertical jump of 36 inches and a broad jump of 10-feet-8-inches. His vertical is a good reach for a 5-foot-9-inch receiver. If he were at the combine, Ross would've made it into the top 10 of broad jump distances.
As for Pena, he was right behind Ross in the 40-yard dash at 4.52 seconds. He had a 35.5-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-3-inch broad jump on Wednesday. At 5-foot-10-inches, similar to Ross, these are manageable numbers to work with, especially considering that both wideouts aimed to make a case for themselves as worthy draft prospects.
Pena's already been mentioned as a potential late-round option for the Atlanta Falcons. Though not an official mock draft, he made a name for himself enough where media and reporters are considering him as a viable draft pick.
"While his numbers dipped after landing at Penn State, much of that can be tied to the Nittany Lions’ instability at quarterback rather than a drop-off in Pena’s ability," Tyler Carmona of Atlanta Falcons on SI wrote.
