Penn State football sustained a massive blow to its new coaching staff under head coach Matt Campbell. The NFL continues plucking coaches from the collegiate level, and wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Noah Pauley was one of them.

Pauley was one of the coaches that followed Campbell from Iowa State to Happy Valley. On Thursday, Feb. 5, however, the Green Bay Packers announced that they're hiring Pauley to fill that role on their staff.

That left the Nittany Lions without a key staff member. Since then, there has been no noise as to who Penn State might or is likely to hire to fill the hole Pauley left.

Penn State football adds three new staff members, still in need of wide receivers coach

On Thursday. Feb 12, three new additions filed into the football department's staff: assistant strength and conditioning coach Shawn Facione Jr., director of football creative content Brad Frandsen, and offensive quality control coach Xavier Jackson.

Facione Jr. joins the Nittany Lions, holding the same role he did when he was at LSU. He spent four seasons with the Tigers after being hired in Dec. 2021. Before then, he had two, one-season stints in that role. He was at Florida Atlantic for the 2020 season and Florida for the 2021 season. Outside of interning, Facione Jr. was a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach for Tennessee at Martin.

He joins Jalyn Baker and Lucas White as Chuck Losey's assistants.

Frandsen spent four seasons with the Cyclones as their creative video coordinator, assisting with internal and external video content for the program and social media planning. He also has experience working in content at South Dakota State.

Jackson is another hire from Iowa State. He was a graduate assistant coach for the Cyclones' offense in 2025. At the University of Sioux Falls, he spent two seasons as an assistant running backs coach.

As for position coaches, nothing new has been announced. Campbell has Jake Waters as quarterbacks coach, Ikaika Mallow as defensive line coach, Tyson Veidt as linebackers coach, Savon Huggins as running backs coach, Ryan Clanton as offensive line coach, Deon Broomfield as secondary coach, and Christian Smith as edge rushers coach.
