Following Moore's hiring, the Nittany Lions received good news in recruitment. Four-star Khalil Taylor announced his top six schools on Friday, Feb. 27. Penn State made the cut.

Taylor was one of the many recruits wary about the Nittany Lions in the first half of the 2025 regular season once Virginia Tech head coach James Franklin went on a three-game losing streak in the Big Ten and was ultimately fired. He announced his de-commitment from the program on Oct. 10, 2025.

The combination of Campbell and offensive coordinator Taylor Mouser immediately got to work, trying to regroup a commitment-less Class of 2027. Taylor was one of those prospects that felt like Penn State deserved another chance. The Nittany Lions re-extended an offer on Dec. 17. A few months later, they're back in the running for Taylor's commitment.

On3's Hayes Fawcett posted the update on Twitter/X on Friday. Alongside Penn State, Taylor has Ohio State, Syracuse, Georgia, Nebraska, and Colorado in his top six. Taylor has four official visits set up for the upcoming spring/summer: May 15 with the Buffaloes, May 29 with the Bulldogs, June 5 with the Nittany Lions, and June 19 with the Orange.

Taylor is the 67th ranked recruit from the Class of 2027 and No. 14 wide receiver, according to 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also the No. 3 prospect out of Pennsylvania. The Pittsburgh, Penn. native logged 33 catches for 571 yards and 16 touchdowns as a junior in 2025 at Pine-Richland High School, according to his MaxPreps stats. Taylor had 24 total touchdowns his last season, including three punt return touchdowns, three kickoff return touchdowns, and two interceptions returns for a touchdowns.
