Saturdays are almost back for college football fans, and the anticipation for Penn State's first season under head coach Matt Campbell is ramping up. Fans can obviously expect to see changes on the field in terms of play, but there's another thing they can look forward to as well.

As the Nittany Lions prepare for the program's new era, they get a fresh new look.

At the start of the 2025 season, Penn State Athletics announced a shocking change, moving away from Nike and swapping its brand deal out for Adidas. At the time, the blue and white waited for approval from the school's Board of Trustees.

Now, just under a year later, the swap is official. This is the first time in roughly three decades the Nittany Lions will not align with Nike. Mark Brennan of 247Sports shared a first look of Penn State football's new uniforms sporting the Adidas logo instead of the Nike swoosh.

“After months of anticipation, the day is finally here, and I couldn’t be more excited to officially welcome adidas to the Penn State family," athletic director Pat Kraft said in a statement.

"This partnership is about far more than apparel. It’s a bold statement about the future of Penn State Athletics and our unwavering commitment to competing at the highest level. This partnership represents a landmark investment in Penn State Athletics, one that will create new opportunities for our student-athletes and strengthen every program as we pursue championships."

Penn State football reveals its first look of uniforms with Adidas logo

This isn't a jaw-dropping reveal, of course. The uniforms, for the most part, look identical to what they were in recent seasons aside from the logo swap.

Now, Adidas has its mark on the the jersey, pants, and all the accessories. Everything else, from the color combination to the shade of blue remains the same. While other changes could be made in the future, keeping tradition alive was key in this brand switch.

Starting July 1, the Nittany Lions are hosting a "Gear Up for Glory" event. The pop-up shops with Adidas merchandise will be at Pegula Ice Arena. They will be open on July 2 and July 8-12 as well.

What fans won't see from just the uniforms alone is everything on the side that comes with this new brand deal.

The 10-year deal is worth up to $300 million in cash, equipment, and NIL fundings. Kraft anticipates it setting an "industry standard" that would benefit all areas of Penn State Athletics. NIL, specifically, is Kraft's main focus with this brand shift.

The university hopes to create "high-impact NIL agreements and brand marketing campaigns" for its athletes through Adidas.

"This is about giving our student-athletes every possible advantage. It’s about giving Nittany Nation an exciting new way to wear its pride. And it’s about building something together that will elevate Penn State Athletics on both the national and global stage," Kraft's statement continued. "We’re incredibly proud to begin this new era with adidas, and we can’t wait to show the world what’s next."
