The details of Penn State football's 2026 regular season schedule are piecing together as September approaches. The Nittany Lions kick off with a three-game, non-conference slate versus Marshall, Temple, and Buffalo before the Big Ten schedule hits on Sept. 26 against Wisconsin.

The blue and white announced a designated theme for the Big Ten opener, which is at home at Beaver Stadium. While other classic themes, like White Out and Stripe Out, have yet to be announced, the Badgers will come to Happy Valley over homecoming weekend.

Penn State hosts Wisconsin for Homecoming game in Week 4

According to Penn State's homecoming website, this is the only event scheduled on that Saturday. The Nittany Lions will sport their "Generations of Greatness" jerseys for the Homecoming game.

Broadcast information, including kickoff time, have yet to be announced.

Before heading to State College, Wisconsin's non-conference slate in preparation for it is at Notre Dame (Sept. 6) at 7:30 p.m. ET, versus Western Illinois (Sept. 12), and versus Eastern Michigan (Sept. 19).

Penn State also has its first national broadcast designation for the 2026 season. Its matchup at Northwestern, which was moved from Saturday, Oct. 3 to Friday, Oct. 2, will be showcased nationally on FOX.

The Big Ten collaborated with FOX further, expanding beyond "Big Noon Kickoff" and taking advantage of Friday night games as well. The Nittany Lions and Wildcats are one of them.

The Friday night game's kickoff is slated for 8 p.m. ET. This will also be the first contest played at Ryan Field. A new site hosting a new Penn State squad will be sure to draw in plenty of attention.

Northwestern faces South Dakota State (Sept. 5) and Colorado (Sept. 19) at home with a Week 2 bye in between. Its Big Ten schedule hits on Sept. 25 at Indiana before the Nittany Lions visit in Week 5.

The remainder of Penn State's schedule after the Wildcats is:

  • Oct. 10 vs. USC
  • Oct. 17 at Michigan
  • Oct. 24 Bye Week
  • Oct. 31 vs. Purdue
  • Nov. 7 at Washington
  • Nov. 14 vs. Minnesota
  • Nov. 21 vs. Rutgers
  • Nov. 28 at Maryland
