Penn State Athletics has been working to upgrade Beaver Stadium and it just received some significant financial support. A family, which includes multiple Penn State alums and has chosen to remain anonymous, has donated $1 million to the Beaver Stadium Revitalization project.

One of the goals of the renovations, which began last offseason, is to prepare the stadium to host a first-round College Football Playoff game. At No. 4 in the country, the Nittany Lions are in line for a home game which will take place on either Friday, December 20, or Saturday, December 21.

In May 2024, the Penn State Board of Trustees approved a $700 million renovation plan for Beaver Stadium, and gifts like this one from a generous anonymous family will help to foot that bill.

3 Penn State women’s volleyball players selected in the Pro Volleyball Federation Draft

At 27-2, Penn State women’s volleyball is preparing for its final weekend of the regular season with matchups against Rutgers and No. 2 ranked Nebraska for a share of the Big Ten title. However, the week got even busier for three Nittany Lions, Camryn Hannah, Taylor Trammell, and Jess Mruzik, as the senior trio was selected in the Pro Volleyball Federation Draft.

Hannah was a first-round pick in the eight-team league, the No. 4 overall selection by the Vegas Thrill. Tramell was selected in the third round by the Indy Ignite and Mruzik, one of the top prospects in the draft, fell to her hometown Grand Rapids Rise with the final pick of the fourth and final round. Mruzik intends to join League One Volleyball, a rival league in its inaugural season.

After an 8-1 win over Stony Brook in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, the No. 22 Nittany Lions took down TCU 1-0 in the second round of the Tallahassee Regional on Friday, and on Sunday beat Vanderbilt 3-1 to advance to the quarter-finals. The win over Vandy came in Penn State’s eighth straight Sweet 16 appearance and was led by Natalie Wilson who assisted on the team’s first goal and scored the eventual game-winner early in the second half.

The Nittany Lions are now set to face No. 8 North Carolina on Friday in Chapel Hill for a spot in the semifinals in Cary, North Carolina.
