Penn State football head coach Matt Campbell emphasized instilling a refreshed culture in Happy Valley and he's representing it perfectly.

Penn State head coach Matt Campbell's commitment to the program is clearer than ever at spring practice
The Nittany Lion head coach was a defensive end during his playing days at Mount Union. For Penn State's spring practice, he filled in at linebacker and didn't hold back.
"Character. Culture. Community. Excellence. These are the words that Coach Campbell used to explain to me what he thinks success looks like," Penn State president Neeli Bendapudi said at Campbell's introductory press conference. "I knew immediately we have the right person."
That level of dedication not just to the team but to being a role model for his players doesn't go unnoticed. It's a lively culture Campbell's building with the Nittany Lions and also one that holds everyone accountable.
That's not exclusive to the players on the roster. That includes Campbell's coaching staff as well as himself.
He knows he is an integral part of the team from a community and togetherness standpoint. When players see their coaches embody the culture they are trying to implement, it's that much more motivating.
It's also evident how invested Campbell is in the blue and white as a whole. He is embracing every element of the program, putting himself at eye level with the players on his roster, and proving that he is committed to Penn State football.
The character, culture, community, and excellence that Campbell told Bendapudi must be something he leads the Nittany Lions with. Thursday showed that he is and, on top of that, he's having fun while doing so.
"A leader who embodies everything Penn State stands for: A builder, a fighter, a standard bearer of what this place can be at its very best," athletic director Pat Kraft said at the press conference. ". . . Campbell is Penn State: Hard-nosed, humble, relentless, a developer of young men, and he's built for championships."
