Penn State football is expected to hear from multiple Class of 2027 recruits on Friday, May 1. Four-star edge rusher Aidan O'Neil is slated to make his announcement, which is down to three schools, and another four-star recruit will make his decision as well.

Running back Aiden Gibson narrowed his decision down to five programs, including the Nittany Lions'. He also is considering Louisville, North Carolina, Rutgers, and South Carolina.

Penn State earns expert prediction to land four-star running back Aiden Gibson and will hear commitment decision on Friday
Gibson is ranked 320th nationally in his class, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He's listed at No. 22 among running backs and No. 8 among recruits from South Carolina. Rivals Industry Ranking has the four-star listed at No. 258 nationally, No. 17 at his position, and No. 6 from his state.
In 2025, Gibson tallied 205 carries for 1,611 yards and 21 touchdowns over 11 games. He also added an additional 24 receptions for 387 yards and four receiving scores.
Gibson is slated to visit multiple schools in the spring/summer. The Scarlet Knights host him first over the weekend of May 29. The Gamecocks (June 5) are followed by the Nittany Lions (June 12). Over the weekend of June 19, he has two lined up: one with the Tar Heels and the second with the Virginia Tech Hokies.
Gibson most recently went to Penn State for an unofficial visit after getting an offer from the blue and white at the end of January.
With Gibson's commitment date getting closer, Brian Dohn of 247Sports logged an expert prediction in favor of the Nittany Lions on Wednesday, April 29. He will make his decision on Friday, May 1.
Gibson will be the first running back in head coach Matt Campbell's recruitment Class of 2027. He currently has four-star wide receiver Landon Blum and four-star tight end Cooper Terwilliger as the only pass catchers committed to the class. Campbell also has two three-star linemen committed: interior offensive lineman Owen Reilly and tackle Ryan Robbins.
