Penn State football head coach Matt Campbell is going up against his former team for a three-star wide receiver.

Jaden Baldwin, a Class of 2027 wideout, set his commitment date for June 16, less than a month away. In the mix are four teams, all of which he has official dates set up with, including the Nittany Lions. Baldwin will also see Iowa State, Pittsburgh, and Colorado. His last visit is with the Cyclones, which is the only team he has an official visit scheduled with after his commitment date passes.

Baldwin will be at Penn State on June 8-10 after visiting the Panthers on May 29-31. The last team he'll see before his commitment date is Colorado on June 12-14.

Baldwin finished his 2025 season with 64 catches for 820 yards and six touchdowns. The three-star is the No. 703 overall recruit and No. 79 wide receiver, per 247Sports Composite rankings. He's also ranked 15th from Arizona.

According to Rivals predictions, the Nittany Lions are currently in the lead to land Baldwin (31.5 percent chance), though it's still a close race. His lineup of official visits will be final chances for each team to sway Baldwin's decision. Since April, they've led the race over the Buffaloes.

“Penn State stands out to me because of their pro-style concepts and NFL-style offensive structure that gives receivers the opportunity to develop at a high level and prepare for the next level of football," Baldwin told Rivals.

Though the Cyclones made Baldwin's list, they were late to extend an offer. Penn State offered the wideout a scholarship in Dec. 2023, the second team to do so in his recruitment. Pittsburgh was also early to the party, offering Baldwin about a month after the Nittany Lions did.

As for Campbell's old squad, though, Iowa State extended an offer on April 11. This was eight days after Baldwin was at Penn State on an unofficial spring practice visit.

The blue and white's Class of 2027 wide receiver room consists of four-stars Landon Blum and Jamir Dean. The Cyclones only have three-star Bryson Thompson currently committed.

In addition to his former team, Campbell faces a squad that's targeted another prime wide receiver: four-star Khalil Taylor. Both Baldwin and Taylor would be massive wins over these teams for Campbell's Class of 2027.

With quarterback Rocco Becht graduating, recruiting wide receivers, like Baldwin, who are good after the catch and can get open will be huge benefits to whichever quarterback proceeds Becht and continues building on Campbell's first year as Penn State's head coach.

Baldwin is the son of former NFL wide receiver Jonathan Baldwin. He played for at Pittsburgh collegiately from 2008-10 before being drafted in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft. His pro career consisted of stops at Kansas City, San Francisco, and Detroit.
