The season has gone from bad to worse for Penn State men’s basketball. On Saturday, the Nittany Lions suffered a 75-73 home loss to Washington to fall to last place in the Big Ten, one game behind the Huskies. Penn State head coach Mike Rhoades’s team has lost seven straight games since an 80-72 win over Rutgers which its record to 13-6.

Now at 13-13 with a 3-12 record in conference play, the Nittany Lions are only a few losses away from officially missing out on the Big Ten tournament. With the conference’s expansion to 18 teams, the conference tournament now only includes the top 15 squads, and heading into Wednesday night’s contest between Penn State and Nebraska, Northwestern, Washington, and Penn State are the three teams on the outside looking in.

Nebraska, on the other hand, has won five of six games including a 68-64 road victory over Northwestern this past weekend. The Cornhuskers are currently a bubble team with a 17-9 overall record as they look to get back to the NCAA Tournament. Last season, in Fred Hoiberg’s fifth year at the helm, Nebraska punched its ticket to the big dance for the first time since 2014. The Huskers haven’t gone to March Madness in back-to-back years since they qualified for four consecutive tournaments from 1991 to 1994.

Penn State doesn’t have much left to play for in this disastrous season, but the Nittany Lions can play spoiler against a Big Ten rival with a lot on the line. Here’s how you can watch this late-season Big Ten contest on Big Ten Network.
