How to watch Penn State vs. Clemson men’s basketball in the Daytona Beach Sunshine Slam Final
By Josh Yourish
In his second year at Penn State, head coach Mike Rhoades has the Nittany Lions off to their first 6-0 start since 1999. Rhoades’s team secured win No. 6 yesterday in the first round of the Daytona Beach Sunshine Slam, 85-66 over Fordham to set up a matchup with 5-1 Clemson in the Beach Division Final Tuesday afternoon at the Ocean Center.
The Nittany Lions didn’t shoot well, knocking down just five three-point attempts and finishing 20/32 from the free-throw line. However, senior guard and former VCU transfer Nick Kern Jr. led the way on Monday afternoon with 20 points off the bench on 9/12 shooting. Kern is a key piece of Penn State’s balanced offensive attack, averaging 11.8 points per game. Zach Hicks is leading the team with 15.8 points per game, just ahead of Ace Baldwin Jr. at 15.7 and Yanic Konan Niederhauser at 12.2.
Konan Niederhauser, Penn State’s seven-foot transfer from Northern Illinois has been important on the offensive end, but against Clemson, on Tuesday he’ll likely be more impactful defensively as the Nittany Lions hope to slow down Ian Schieffelin. The senior forward had 18 points in the Tigers’ 70-55 win over San Francisco to meet Penn State in the Sunshine Slam final.
Here’s how you can watch this Big Ten/ACC matchup during Feast Week.
