Penn State men’s basketball is off to a red-hot start to 2024 in the second year under head coach Mike Rhoades. The Nittany Lions are 5-0 with three 100-point games and are coming off a 102-89 win over Purdue Fort Wayne as they and the rest of college basketball, head into Feast Week.

It’s Thanksgiving and for many that means football, but college basketball fans know that early season tournament action is one of the best times of the year. Penn State will spend Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week down in Florida for the Daytona Beach Sunshine Slam and will kick off the four-team “Beach Bracket” tournament with a first-round matchup against Fordham.

Penn State is guaranteed two games at the tournament, but with a win will have a chance to play for the tournament championship, not in the consolation game. The other side of the bracket features a matchup between 4-1 Clemson and 4-1 San Francisco. The winner of Penn State/Fordham will play the winner of Clemson/San Francisco.

So far this season, last year's Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Ace Baldwin Jr. has been an offensive force, leading the Nittany Lions with 16.4 points and 7.8 assists per game, while chipping in 2.6 steals on the other end. Baldwin also has a new running mate on offense in center Yanic Konan Niederhauser, a Northern Illinois transfer averaging 12.2 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game. Behind Baldwin and Konan Niederhauser, the Nittany Lions are 15.5-point favorites on Monday afternoon in the FanDuel Sportsbook.

Here’s how you can watch Penn State’s first-round matchup down in Florida.
