Former Penn State football wide receiver Jahan Dotson officially found a new home in the NFL.
Former Penn State edge rusher sets the bar high with massive NFL contract
The Atlanta Falcons continued reshaping their receiving corps at the start of the legal tampering period before free agency hits by agreeing to a two-year deal with Dotson worth $15 million, including $10 million guaranteed. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the contract represents another step in Atlanta’s effort to strengthen its pass-catching options heading into the upcoming season.

For Dotson, the move represents a much-needed fresh start after a somewhat underwhelming beginning to his NFL career.
The Washington Commanders selected Dotson with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft following a standout college career as a Nittany Lion. While expectations were high for the former first-round pick, he has yet to fully replicate the explosive production that made him one of the most dynamic receivers in college football.
At Penn State, Dotson emerged as one of the nation’s most electric playmakers during his final two seasons.
His junior year showcased his big-play ability, as he hauled in 52 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns in just nine games. He followed that performance with an even more dominant senior season, finishing with 91 catches for 1,182 yards and 12 touchdowns while serving as the clear No. 1 target for the Nittany Lions’ offense.
Those performances cemented his status as one of the top wide receiver prospects in the country and ultimately helped propel him into the first round of the NFL Draft.
Now, the Falcons are betting that the same talent that made Dotson such a coveted prospect can still translate at the professional level.
Atlanta made it clear that upgrading its receiving weapons is a priority, and Dotson could quickly find himself in an important role within the offense. With the No. 2 receiver spot still open, he will have an opportunity to compete for significant playing time immediately.
Dotson also arrives in Atlanta at an ideal time in his career. Still just 25 years old and set to turn 26 soon, the wideout remains young enough to rediscover the form that once made him one of the most exciting receivers in college football.
Under new Falcons head coach Kevin Stefanski, an offensive-minded leader known for maximizing talent, Atlanta can provide the perfect environment for Dotson to reset his career trajectory.
If the former Penn State star rediscovers his playmaking ability that defined his college career, this deal could turn into one of the more intriguing bounce-back opportunities of the offseason.
For Dotson, Atlanta may represent exactly what he needs: a fresh start, a new offensive system, and a chance to prove he can still live up to the promise that made him a first-round pick back in 2022.
