That was rough. Yup, that's what plenty of Penn State fans have to be thinking following the loss to Oregon on Saturday night in primetime. It was all there for the Nittany Lions to post one of the biggest wins of the season, but the Ducks were the ones who made the necessary plays late.
Since the final whistle, plenty of people have been calling out Drew Allar for his rough showing. He finished throwing for a lowly 137 yards, while adding two touchdowns and his back-breaking interception that closed things out for the Ducks.
Did Penn State make a mistake letting Beau Pribula walk?
Elsehere, Beau Pribula has looked fantastic for Missouri and the Tigers are a perfect 5-0 on the campaign. Pribula made the tough decision to enter the transfer portal and sign with Mizzou after Allar decided to skip the NFL Draft and return for one more season. What if Allar went pro and Pribula took over as the starter? Would things be looking different for James Franklin right now?
Sunday Thoughts: Is Penn State better if Drew Allar went pro and Beau Pribula stayed last winter?

Beau Pribula looking brilliant for Mizzou hurts Penn State fans everywhere
Allar had the opportunity to make a statement and get so many doubters off his back in overtime against Oregon. Yes, the Ducks scored to take a 30-24 lead in the second OT, but they couldn't convert on the two-point conversion.
The door was swung wide open for Allar to be a hero in Happy Valley and lead the Nittany Lions to a monster win. Instead, he short-armed a throw and tossed an interception that's going to sit with him for a long time. It's obviously a throw he'd like to have back.
Allar was beyond frustrated after the loss and no one can blame him for that. At the same time, the fanbase remains pretty upset that he couldn't deliver for Penn State when Franklin needed him to most. Through four games, Allar has thrown for 763 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.
On the flip side, Pribula has thrown for 1,203 yards, nine touchdowns and three INTs through five contests. We're not going to say Pribula would have powered Penn State over Oregon, but the fact of the matter here is that Allar didn't get the job done. Just like Franklin, he can't seem to win the big game, which was showcased in primetime against the Ducks and Dan Lanning.
