Nike announced on Thursday afternoon that Penn State football quarterback Drew Allar signed a deal with the brand.

"Coming for the Lions' Share," Nike wrote in its social media post on Instagram, completed with the brand's signature swoosh and a picture of Allar on the field.

This is the second major apparel deal Allar recently took on. Following the announcement of Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift's engagement, Allar teamed up with the Kansas City tight end on his new project, "Tru Kolors." The Nittany Lion was one of six athletes, alongside Azzi Fudd, Anna Frey, Jeremiah Smith, Kiyan Anthony, and Sunisa Lee, to represent Kelce's brand. The American Eagle ad was posted on Aug. 27.

Though locked in with Penn State for the season on a quest for the national championship, Allar isn't all too concerned with what the athletic department is doing.

The school has been partnered with Nike since 1993, but the two have a history that extends well before that, starting all the way back in the 1980s with head coach Joe Paterno. Now, the Nittany Lions are pending approval from the Board of Trustees to change brand partnerships to Adidas. On3's Brett McMurphy was the first to report this, though it is still too early to definitively say whether this shift is occurring for the blue and white.

If it does, Penn State will be the No. 1 priority for Adidas, which isn't the case right now with Nike. It's not even the No. 1 Big Ten priority. Ohio State, Oregon, USC, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, Purdue, Minnesota, and Michigan State are all conference schools that are partnered with Nike while Indiana and Nebraska are the only two locked in with Adidas.

Allar will graduate in the winter before spring semester starts as he is only taking one class this fall, putting all of his focus into the team and on-field production. Whatever brand switches Penn State is considering or has underway doesn't affect him, so he's in a position do whatever he wants. With this new deal, though, if the Nittany Lions make the change official, there will be a lot of tension and confusion as Allar reps the swoosh and Penn State reps the three stripes.
