Let's be real with ourselves. We are all collectively losing our minds, a little bit, all the time. So when Andrew Fillipponi of 93.7 The Fan decided that enough was enough over the airwaves, he was a man of his word. He said that if the Pittsburgh Steelers decided to draft former Penn State Nittany Lions quarterback Drew Allar that he would resign from his post. Guess who the Steelers took at No. 76?
So with the heartbreaking news coming on Friday night, Fillipponi put forth his resignation letter on X.
"After a lot of thought, I've decided to step away from my role on the p.m. team at 93.7 The Fan. For 15 years, this place has been home. From day one at 93.7 The Fan, to being part of a team that earned a Marconi Award, it's been more than a job -- it's been a dream. I've had the chance to talk sports in the best city, with the best fans, every single day."
And because he is a man of his word, Fillipponi let everyone know on Monday afternoon that was it.
"But I've always said I'm a man of my word. I said if Drew Allar was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers, I would step away. That moment has come, and I'm sticking to it."
Yes, Allar broke this poor man's will to cover Pittsburgh sports professionally after being drafted.

This is par for the course when a Penn Stater like Allar finds his way over to Western Pennsylvania...
Andrew Fillipponi uses Drew Allar draft pick as a hilarious bit for his show
For almost an hour there, we all thought Fillipponi was seriously going to hang up the headset out of spite. To be clear, it is not like the team he covers drafted Christian Hackenberg. While both of them played in Happy Valley, only one of them will ever have a chance at playing a snap or two on any NFL Sundays. At least the Steelers did not draft Cade Klubnik out of Clemson like the New York Jets did...
In all fairness, this is kind of what you are hoping for on popular sports talk radio. Wild hosts make outrageous claims all the time, and they need to be held accountable for them. It is not like Fillipponi accused chestnuts of being lazy or that he invented the question mark. This is the sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament ... But it is so good to have him back now!
As the dust has started to settle on the 2026 NFL Draft, the Steelers' draft has been met with mixed reviews. It was the first draft with Mike McCarthy serving as head coach. To be quite frank, for every smart pick the Steelers made, they seemed to make one as head-scratching. Allar to the Steelers in the third round makes a ton of sense. The talent is there, but the production has never gotten there...
For now, we should be thanking our lucky stars that Fillipponi is back on the Pittsburgh airwaves.
