No. 16 Penn State women's volleyball has a split weekend ahead with one match at home and the other on the road. The Nittany Lions face two ranked opponents vs. Oregon at home on Friday night and Indiana in Bloomington Sunday afternoon.
The blue and white went 1-1 last weekend with a loss to USC and win over UCLA. They look to take down both teams this weekend and advance in the AVCA Poll.

Penn State vs. Oregon series history
The Nittany Lions lead their series with the Ducks, 5-3. They've split games at Oregon 1-1, but have a 2-1 advantage at home in Happy Valley.
The last time these two teams met, Penn State beat the Ducks in four sets, taking the first, second, and fourth in the match on Oct. 18, 2025.
Key Nittany Lion and Duck to watch
Penn State:
- Opposite hitter Kennedy Martin
Martin continues her Player of the Year campaign with the blue and white. Against the Bruins, she totaled 25 kills and had just five errors on 68 attacks. She also had an ace and tallied seven digs, amassing her point toal to 26.5 for the game.
This brought her season total to 305 points, 265 kills, 134 digs, 46 blocks, and 16 aces. She's a leader offensively and defensively (second-most digs on the season so far). How she matches up with Oregon's star middle blocker will be interesting.
Oregon:
- Middle blocker Dalia Virian
Virian has held her own very well up at the net blocking. She's totaled 63 blocks on the season (eight solo, 55 assists), and she'll go up against Martin on Friday which will be a huge test. Virian also transferred over from Pittsburgh in the offseason after two seasons with the Panthers. Coming from a powerhouse program has definitely given the Ducks a boost in the front row.
In Oregon's game vs. Rutgers, Virian had one solo block and five block assists. She also had 10 kills and finished the match with a 0.563 hitting percentage.

Penn State vs. Indiana series history
The Nittany Lions hold a very lopsided record over the Hoosiers, 60-2. They have a 29-1 record on the road against Indiana and a 33-1 record at Penn State.
The Hoosiers logged their first win over the blue and white in 2010, then swept the Nittany Lions on Nov. 2, 2025. With an improved Indiana team, it provides yet another Big Ten test for Penn State.
Key Nittany Lion and Hoosier to watch
Penn State:
- Defensive specialist Jocelyn Nathan
Head coach Katie Schumacher-Cawley has slowly given Nathan a bit more workload in the back row alongside libero Ava Falduto. Though Falduto remains the leader in digs for the Nittany Lions (203), getting Nathan more involved has been a huge help in the defensively. Both players can hold the fort down well and fill in the gap left behind by former libero Gillian Grimes. Grimes has some big shoes to fill, but with Nathan taking a step forward the last few games, she and Falduto are getting the job done.
Nathan has 85 digs on the season. Against USC, she had 11 digs, which was good for second-most on the team. She also had seven digs vs. UCLA. It's been interesting seeing this defense progress over the season with attackers taking a step forward as well with their defense, and Nathan standing out is a good sign vs. ranked opponents.
Indiana:
- Outside hitter Jaidyn Jager
Like Martin, Jager is a huge weapon offensively for Indiana and is an all-around court threat as well. On the season, she has 232 kills and a 0.232 hitting percentage on 595 attempts. Adding to her 264-point total so far this year, Jager's logged 16 aces and 26 blocks (six solo, 20 assists). On defense, she's put up 137 digs.
The Hoosiers have other weapons, like Ella Boersema and Sara Snowbarger, who both have over 100 kills for the team, but Jager is setter Teodora Krickovic's favorite target. Similar to how teams must know where Martin is at all times, the Nittany Lions need to be aware of where Jager is on the court Sunday.
