It was reported on Thursday that Micah Parsons is officially a Green Bay Packer to conclude a long saga in a contract dispute with the Dallas Cowboys.

On Thursday, Aug. 28, Ian Rapoport reported the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers struck a deal. As a result of a frustrating contract dispute between Jerry Jones and former Penn State defenseman Micah Parsons, Parsons was traded and will now suit up for Green Bay.

The defensive end is now the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history. Parsons is under a $188 million, four-year deal with $136 million guaranteed. Per year, he'll make $47 million with the Packers.

In exchange, the Cowboys will receive two first-round picks and a front-line player, according to Adam Schefter.

Parsons already started closing his chapter with Dallas at the beginning of August. On Aug. 1, he publicly announced he submitted a trade request and has since sidelined himself from training camp and preseason games.

After Jones made a statement to Michael Irwin, claiming Parsons' agent, David Mulugheta, was the issue in the contract dispute, the former Cowboy made it clear where he stood with his now-former team.

"Because the in between guy . . . kept me from doing the deal. That's exactly what's happening here," Jones told Irwin. "So many times in this industry you have a different agenda going on with agents. A different agenda. They're playing a game. You tell me are agents incentivized to not only get the most for that player, but they're trying to get what? They're trying to get other players."

In response, Parsons took to social media and removed his affiliation to the team in his bios. He substituted it with "TBD," signifying the Cowboys hit the final nerve and prompted him to sit back, wait for Dallas to open up to the idea of a trade, and get the deal done.

Though Dallas head coach Brian Schottenheimer and quarterback Dak Prescott were confident Parsons would be on the field against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1, it would've taken a lot of pressure and a franchise tag for the former Nittany Lion to stay put. Jones initially said he planned on tagging him in 2026 and 2027 and have Parsons play out his final season in Dallas under his rookie contract.

Green Bay toyed around with some deals that the Cowboys denied. Earlier on Thursday, though, Schefter reported that they started changing their minds about locking Parsons down in Dallas. Finally with the preseason wrapped up and the regular season one week away, Jones and Dallas accepted a trade deal to send Parsons on his way to Green Bay.
