After Week 3, No. 1 Ohio State, No. 2 Penn State, and No. 6 Oregon lead the list for most likely to win the College Football Playoff Championship Game.
Per FanDuel's betting odds, the Buckeyes have a +600 chance of winning the title followed by the Nittany Lions and Ducks at +650.
All three teams hold a 3-0 record heading into Week 4. In Week 1, Ohio State beat Texas 14-7, Penn State beat Nevada 46-11, and Oregon won against Montana State 59-13. The next week, the Buckeyes and Nittany Lions shutout their opponents, beating Grambling State 70-0 and Florida International 34-0, respectively. The Ducks beat Oklahoma State 69-3. Ohio State defeated Ohio 37-9, Penn State won against Villanova 52-6, and Oregon beat Northwestern 34-14 in Week 3.
James Franklin's and Ryan Day's teams will return to action in Week 5. The Ducks are set to face Oregon State on Saturday, Sept. 20 at home before going on the road to play in Happy Valley. The Penn State-Oregon game in two weeks will be the Nittany Lions' first true test of their season. Though the Ducks are currently sixth on the AP Top 25 Poll, Sept. 27 has potential to be a top five matchup depending on where they land following Week 4. They're currently six points away from overtaking the No. 5 spot over Georgia. While the White Out game happens in Pennsylvania, Ohio State will be at Washington for a 3:30 p.m. ET kickoff.
If Penn State beats Oregon, it will be a huge win that can push more odds in its favor. Three weak, non-conference opponents with slow offensive starts in the last two weeks isn't enough to top either the AP Poll or championship odds. If the Nittany Lions can work out the kinks in their offense and beat the Ducks, fans might start to see the blue and white slowly takeover. It's one of the deciding games for how they're seeded in the playoffs and how likely they are to win the title. Ohio State in Week 10 is the other major game that can turns odds for or against Penn State.
