On No. 3 Penn State's second drive of its game against No. 6 Oregon, right guard Anthony Donkoh went down on the field. According to Audrey Snyder, Donkoh could not walk off the field by himself. It appears to be a significant right leg injury as he was seen barely putting weight on it. Trainers assisted him off the field and into the medical tent.

Following the conclusion of the first quarter, it was announced by the NBC broadcast that the redshirt sophomore was in the tent for about 5.5 minutes to test things out and work on his leg. He came out of the tent, put his helmet on, and was ready to take on the second quarter with his team.

In 2024, the right guard suffered a season-ending injury to his right leg. Being knocked down with that in mind, Penn State will likely keep an eye on Donkoh and his leg throughout the rest of the game. He missed six games due to that injury in the previous season and started all three games so far in 2025.

RG Anthony Donkoh's short-lived absence shows stability and depth in Penn State's offensive line

In the starter's short absence, the depth of Phil Trautwein's offensive line was tested and did not disappoint for its short preview. TJ Shanahan Jr. and Cooper Cousins were fighting for the backup spot at right guard. Shanahan, the redshirt sophomore, was thrown out there on Saturday against Oregon while Donkoh was in the medical tent.

After quarterback Drew Allar's passing time was exploited on the first play of the drive that Donkoh went down during, the Nittany Lions had to regroup on second-and-18. The high pressure situation didn't land in their favor. Allar handed the ball off to Nicholas Singleton, but picked up a short gain of two yards. On top of it, the health of one of their starting guards was at risk. Donkoh rolled up with the help from the team's staff before getting helped off the field.

Once Donkoh returned, Allar and the offense eventually made it far enough down the field to put them in field goal range. Ryan Barker put Penn State on the board first with three points.
