Penn State’s Week 7 matchup with Lincoln Riley’s USC Trojans was expected to be one of the marquee matchups of the Big Ten season. That’s why it will be the featured game on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET.

However, last week, USC suffered its second loss of the year, 24-17 at Minnesota, to fall to 3-2 and 1-2 in Big Ten play. The Trojans fell from No. 11 in the AP Poll to unranked and now, all but out of the conference championship race, will hope to play spoiler against the No. 4 ranked Nittany Lions in the LA Coliseum on Saturday afternoon.

James Franklin’s team is off to a 5-0 start and is 2-0 in Big Ten play after dispatching UCLA 27-11 at Beaver Stadium in Week 6. Even without a ranking next to USC’s name, this could be the toughest test so far for a Nittany Lions team that hasn’t been pushed a ton, outside of a tough half against Bowling Green.

Penn State, and a CBS broadcast that is interested in promoting stars, will be happy to have Nick Singleton back on the field after the dynamic junior running back missed last week’s win over the Bruins. In his absence, Kaytron Allen ran for 78 yards and a touchdown on 21 carries, so the Nittany Lions will love to have Singleton’s explosiveness against a suspect USC defense and to keep pace with Riley’s always explosive offense.

USC will look to spoil Penn State’s dream season, just like it did back in 2017 when Sam Darnold snatched a Rose Bowl victory away from Trace McSorley and Saquon Barkley. It will be the first meeting between these two programs since that 52-49 shootout, and the 11th meeting all-time. USC leads the series 6-4.

Who are the announcers for Penn State vs. USC in Week 7?

CBS no longer features the SEC in its primary afternoon slot, now it showcases the Big Ten and that means that CBS’s crew of play-by-play announcer Brad Nessler, color commentator Gary Danielson, and sideline reporter Jenny Dell will be on the call.
