The No. 1 quarterback from the 2027 recruiting class revealed six schools he scheduled official visits with this fall. After receiving unfortunate quarterback-related news from recruits, Penn State football made the list for five-star Elijah Haven.
Haven is the No. 26 recruit on 247Sports Composite rankings and No. 15 on On3's Rivals' rankings. The Nittany Lions are the lone Big Ten team from the six schools he has marked on the calendar. In fact, they're the only non-SEC school the Baton Rouge native has an official visit with. Georgia, LSU, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn are the other five vying for the No. 1 QB.
No. 1 QB Elijah Haven schedules official visit with Penn State football
In 2024, Haven was the MaxPreps National Sophomore of the Year, following up his 2,205-passing yard season as a freshman starter in 2023. He led his Dunham School team to a 14-1 record and a Louisiana Division III Select state championship game. He finished the season with a 60.7 completion percentage with 193 passes for 3,093 yards and 37 touchdowns. On the ground, Haven gained 925 yards and 19 touchdowns.
247Sports' director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote:
"Supersized quarterback with first-round pick potential if he can put it all together. Possesses an excellent combination of strength and athleticism to go along with impressive competitive drive and football character . . . Showed everything you wanted to see from a young signal caller in a championship setting as he mounted a comeback effort with his arm and legs while taking his fair share of blows. Has frequently been featured on designed runs and has both the power and agility to boost a rushing attack, but is more than capable of winning through the air and from the pocket."
Haven is also a multi-sport athlete, playing basketball at Dunham as well. He was the District MVP and Defensive MVP as a sophomore in 2024-25, helping the team reach back-to-back semifinal game appearances.

The likelihood of Penn State landing Haven isn't high. According to Rivals, the Gators have a 97.8 percent chance of earning his commitment. If Haven made a shocking decision and chose the Nittany Lions, head coach James Franklin would have beat out all SEC teams, including overriding home-state advantage LSU.
Penn State has a better chance at maintaining ground with Northeastern quarterbacks, though they haven't necessarily been kind to Franklin either. The most recent positive news for Penn State was four-star Keegan Croucher from New York revealing the blue and white as one of his top three schools. The No. 9 quarterback told Rivals that he's between Penn State, Oregon, and Ole Miss as of Aug. 25.
