Another of the three wide receivers that Franklin has offered, is Josh Kelly from Washington State. He comes from a very different offense. The air raid with Cam Ward, who threw the ball all over the place. However, Kelly’s average target depth is 11.4 yards downfield, so he’s not another underneath receiver, which Penn State has little need for.

He’s an elite receiver in the intermediate and deep parts of the field. On targets 10-19 yards downfield, Kelly has a 76.7% catch rate and 23 grabs, which are the fifth most in the country. To the intermediate part of the field, he averages 15.67 yards per route run, which is 23rd best in the nation, and gained 185 yards after the catch on those throws, second best.

Kelly did make six contest catches last year, but he’s more of a threat with the ball in his hands, averaging 6.0 yards after the catch per reception.
