Big Ten QB power rankings thru Week 10 (Drew Allar vs. JJ McCarthy)
By Josh Yourish
Big Ten QB rankings, No. 8: Brendan Sorsby (was 13)
- Passing yards: 55.8%
- TD: 7 INT: 1
- Comp: 55.8%
- YPA: 6.3
When he faced Penn State, the Nittany Lions had a few defensive miscommunications and blown coverages, but to his credit, Sorsby took advantage. Not every quarterback is capable of executing when the opportunity presents itself against a great defense.
Those big touchdown passes certainly boosted his statistical output for the season, but seven touchdowns to just one interception is nothing to scoff at. My big criticism of Sorsby in the last rankings was that he takes a lot of deep shots, over 20% of his throws are over 20 yards downfield, but he wasn’t hitting any of them.
At the time his yards per attempt on those 20+ yard throws was somehow just 4.3, but now it’s up to 9.7 and Sorsby is up to No. 8 in my rankings. It’s clear he should keep the job for the rest of the season.
