Big Ten QB rankings, No. 1: JJ McCarthy (was 1)

  • Passing yards: 2,134
  • TD: 18 INT: 3
  • Comp: 75.7%
  • YPA: 10.4

There are almost no flaws in McCarthy’s game. It’s been so impressive to watch.

In my last rankings I wrote, “McCarthy has been picture-perfect this entire season. His development at Michigan is such a testament to the coaching staff at Michigan trusting him through his growing pains, believing in him, and empowering him to do what he does well.”

Nothing has changed in the weeks since. All he’s done is throw for 335 yards against Purdue, their only game with a bye in Week 9. Michigan won 41-13 and the Wolverines haven’t even broken a sweat this season.

Against Penn State this week, that probably won’t change. Penn State is a good team and Allar, a good quarterback, but Michigan and McCarthy are GREAT. I’d be shocked Michigan didn’t win this weekend. The Wolverines are my pick to win the national championship, and I’d also be shocked if McCarthy wasn’t a first-round pick this spring.
