5 recruits James Franklin needs to get to beat Ohio State and Michigan
By Josh Yourish
Bryce Underwood – 2025 QB (Belleville, MI)
In 2022, James Franklin went into the state of Ohio to grab the No. 1 overall quarterback, so why not take the No. 1 guy in the 2025 class right out from under Jim Harbaugh’s nose?
Bryce Underwood has shown some interest in Penn State, but lately, the momentum seems to be in the direction of LSU. The good news is that there is still plenty of time for things to change for the class of 2025.
Allar hasn’t exactly set the world on fire this year and he was a big disappointment in the biggest game of his career. He only went 18/42 for 191 yards and a touchdown against Ohio State, but he’s clearly shown a lot of talent, and the lack of talent at wide receiver looked like the bigger issue against the Buckeyes.
A lot of other schools are turning to the transfer portal to find the next guy, but for every Michael Penix Jr. and Bo Nix, it feels like there are many more guys like Jeff Sims and Phil Jurkovec who don’t pan out. The best way to close the gap between good and great at any level of football is quarterback, so Franklin should make a splash and go all-in on the best one.
