5 dream coaching candidates to replace James Franklin if he’s fired
By Josh Yourish
Garrett Riley, Clemson OC
Lincoln’s little brother helped Sonny Dykes design an offense that carried TCU to the national championship game last year.
He’s just 34 years old and this offseason, Clemson made him an offer big enough to pull him away from the Horned Frogs. He’s not having the same level of success with the Tigers on Dabo Swinney’s staff, but there is still a lot of belief in his ability around the college football world.
Clemson is 75th in yards per play and 44th in total offense this year, but it’d be interesting to see Riley take over a program and build it in his image.
Clemson is on the other side of a dominant run over the ACC, so it’s not fair to expect Riley to fix everything for the Tigers, like Swinney’s refusal to embrace the transfer portal. Lincoln’s first head coaching job was Oklahoma and he hit the ground running, maybe his brother is the next college football wiz kid.
