Penn State’s defense hasn’t just been great against Ohio State today, it’s been the best in college football this season. Star pass-rusher Chop Robinson is a big reason for their success, but Robinson went down with an injury with the score tied at 3-3 and 9:58 remaining in the second quarter.

Ohio State offensive lineman Matthew Jones delivered a big block on Robinson that sent him to the ground and Robinson was still down on the field even after Fox returned from a commercial break. With 7:59 remaining in the second quarter Gus Johnson reported that Robinson was on the cart to the locker room.

Penn State is No. 1 in the country in total defense. Robinson has three sacks and a forced fumble this season. The junior transfer from Maryland is Penn State’s best edge rusher, but Adissa Isaac leads the team with five sacks on the season. Penn State is second in the country averaging 4.6 sacks per game, and Isaac should still be able to create some pressure on Kyle McCord.

After Robinson’s injury, Ohio State finished off its first touchdown drive of the game with a short touchdown run by Miyan Williams.

Robinson’s current injury status

Robinson was injured with an apparent head injury on a block by an Ohio State offensive lineman and stayed down on the field for multiple minutes. He was last reported to be on the cart headed to the locker room.

His status is in doubt but has not officially been released or reported at this time.

Update: 1:30 PM: Jenny Taft reported that Robinson remains in the locker room and that there was a lot of emotion and tears from the junior pass-rusher. It does not sound promising for a Robinson return.
