Out of the 11 schools that make up C-USA, the Nittany Lions have only played three of them. That means Penn State football has yet to face the 49’ers of Charlotte, the Burrowing Owls of FAU, the Lightning of Middle Tennessee State, the Mean Green of North Texas, UAB Blazers, UTEP Miners, UTSA Roadrunners, Liberty Flames, or the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers. We’re probably not going to play W. Kentucky anytime soon after WR Mitchell Tinsley defected from there to Happy Valley last season.
Miami, Ohio: I actually had to double-check this myself, as I thought we had played the Red Hawks at one point. This is a team that has a legitimate shot at appearing on a future Penn State schedule.
Western Michigan: Ditto for the Broncos. They are usually decent enough to not drastically kill Penn State’s SOS while being “easy” enough to guarantee a win. Obviously, the unexpected can happen (2000 Toledo), but more often than not Penn State is going to win those games.
