Can Drew Allar Deliver?

I am a huge believer in QB Drew Allar. In fact, I believe he is the perfect fit for what kind of culture James Franklin is trying to build at Penn State. That being said, this is still a player that has yet to make his first career start.

Look, we saw what Drew is capable of last season. One of the most impressive things he did in 2022 was when he entered the Purdue game off the bench and handled everything with such maturity. I have full confidence Drew will be able to go out and defeat the teams he is supposed to beat and he has a lot of established weapons in the ground game and in the tight end room. My questions are surrounding the biggest games of the season.

It’s exciting because we will all get to watch him have success and struggle at Penn State. But for this season to go as well as Nittany Nation wants it to go, Drew is going to have to handle more pressure each week.

There are four games that I am really watching out for on the schedule to see how he plays. Starting with the Illinois game in week 3, it will be his first true road start against an emerging Illinois team. Next, it has to be the whiteout against Iowa. The Hawkeyes always have a great defense will Allar be able to deliver in front of 107k strong? Then, it’s the return to Ohio for the road game at Ohio State. I’m sure Allar will have a lot of family and friends attending that game, with a lot on the line can he play mistake-free football? Finally against Michigan in November at home. If Allar can deliver against the defending Big Ten Champions, the Nittany Lions will have one heck of a season.

Overall, I believe these three question marks will prove themselves throughout the season. It might take a few weeks but these are all question marks that I see Penn State overcoming during the 2023 season.
