As we head into the weekend, the Penn State football team will host their second round of official visits. Last weekend, that group produced three new 2024 commits. One of the more exciting parts of this upcoming weekend is the amount of currently committed players that will be on campus between June 9th – June 11th.

You may ask yourself, why does it matter for already committed players to take an official visit to the school they are committed to? Well, I believe it’s important for a few reasons.

First, as players get back on campus they are reminded why they chose to commit to Penn State in the first place. The facilities, Beaver Stadium, the staff, and seeing the coaches that they have built relationships with all help confirm that this is the perfect fit for them.

Another reason why it’s important to have currently committed players on campus is so that the class leaders can continue to build relationships with each other. On social media, the following 2024 commits have announced that they will be taking their official visit this weekend QB Ethan Grunkemeyer, OL Cooper Cousins, OL, Donovan Harbour, TE Luke Reynolds, RB Corey Smith, RB Quinton Martin, and many others will be on campus.

Outside of the camps that these players spend time competing at, having many members of the 2024 class be together and start to form those friendships is very important. They also are able to do a little recruiting of their own while other non-committed players take their official visit to Penn State this weekend.

One of those players includes a highly talented 4-star DL recruit per 247sports Nigel Smith II who will be on campus this weekend for his official visit to Penn State. Out of Melissa, Texas, the Nittany Lions are hoping to make a big impression to potentially seal the deal with Smith.
