During the season, the offensive line is typically protecting the quarterback or opening running lanes for the running backs. While the defensive line is attempting to fill those running lanes and get to the quarterback. During Spring Ball and Fall Camp, the Penn State linemen have tons of battles during practice.

But this Saturday, the two position groups will have a different type of battle that will take place off the field. A select few offensive linemen C Hunter Nourzad and C Nick Dawkins, OG Sal Wormley, and OT Caedan Wallace will take on DE Dani Dennis-Sutton, DE Adisa Isaac, DT Jordan Vandenberg, and DT Zane Durant in the 6-foot cheesesteak challenge.

The event will take place at the We Are Inn, the doors open at 1 PM and the contest will begin at 3 PM. This is a great opportunity for these players to meet the community and take part in a fun competition set up by NIL collective Success with Honor.

The best part about this competition is there will be two Penn State lettermen as the team captains for the offense and the defense. The offensive line group will be led by former Penn State running back Blair Thomas who was the first player in school history to rush for more than 1,300 yards in two separate seasons 1987 and 1989. He was drafted 2nd overall in the 1990 NFL draft by the New York Jets.

The defensive line group will be led by former Penn State cornerback Justin King. He was selected to the Second-Team All-Big Ten in 2006. He went on to be drafted in the 4th round of the 2008 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.

It’s tough to pick a winner in this competition, but I will go with the offensive line. I feel like Nourzad and Dawkins will be able to take on this challenge. This is a great opportunity for the Nittany Lion community to cheer on Penn State football players both past and present in an eating competition.
