Penn State Football: Nittany Lions Offer Rising Star Cornerback in the Transfer Portal
As we head into the summer, there is a new player to keep an eye on who is currently in the NCAA transfer portal. On Tuesday night, he announced that the Penn State football team offered him a scholarship. This is CB Trey Amos who is transferring from Louisiana.

Amos is 6’1 197 lbs and just finished his sophomore season with the Ragin’ Cajuns. It’s obvious that the Penn State football team is trying to establish additional depth at the cornerback position after the departure of Storm Duck.
Last season, Amos accounted for 36 tackles and 8 pass breakups on the year. He is one of the hottest names in the transfer portal, according to On3, he has received offers from 14 Power 5 schools within the past 24 hours.
It would be a massive addition to the secondary. Kalen King and Johnny Dixon will lead the cornerbacks this fall, but the nickel position is still a battle between Daequan Hardy and Cam Miller.
It would be interesting to see where Amos would fit on the Penn State football defense, but knowing Manny Diaz the more pieces to the puzzle he has, the better he can put them in the best position to succeed.
I think this also shows that additional depth is required in the secondary. King Mack is a true freshman who has yet to arrive, Elliot Washington flashed in the Blue-White game; however, if this Penn State football team wants to reach its goals they will want to rely on veteran talent to do so.
The staff has their work cut out for them trying to win Amos over these other schools, but this is an attractive transfer portal destination with the expectation that this will be a preseason top-10 team in the country. After the addition of Alonzo Ford last night, the Nittany Lions are loading up to make a big push towards their goals this fall.
