As the 2023 NFL draft comes to a close, just because a player didn’t hear their name called doesn’t mean that their NFL dream is out of reach. Instead, these former Penn State football players will need to work a little harder to make their presence known.

Once the draft ended, teams started working their phones to sign a player as an undrafted free agent. This will get the player’s foot in the door and allow them to make an NFL roster.

We start with DT PJ Mustipher, after the NFL combine didn’t go his way he went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft. This former Nittany Lion has been signed by the Denver Broncos per Penn State football.

He will work towards making a good impression with his size and dominant run-stopping ability. In his Penn State career, he accounted for 145 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and 3 sacks.

WR Mitchell Tinsley transferred in from Western Kentucky before the 2022 season. Now, he’s headed to the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent. This was reported by Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

He has his work cut out for him on this roster, but I have no doubt he will stand out in camp. During his lone season with the Penn State football team, Tinsley accounted for 51 receptions for 577 yards and 5 touchdowns.

LB Jonathan Sutherland didn’t waste any time as he was signed rather quickly after the NFL draft ended. He landed with the Seattle Seahawks and will look to make their roster, according to Penn State.

He appeared in 58 career games and played both safety and linebacker at Penn State. Sutherland is a guy who can certainly make the roster by becoming a special teams ace.

Last but not least, we have LS Chris Stoll who was also signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. This was also reported by the Penn State football team.

Stoll is currently the only long-snapper on the Seahawks roster which is a great opportunity to make the roster. In his Penn State career, he appeared in 48 games at long snapper.

Although these guys didn’t hear their names called during the NFL draft, I would keep an eye on these players as the chip on their shoulder will be massive headed into training camp.
