The final day of the 2023 NFL draft is upon us and the Penn State football team has many players hoping to hear their name called. Earlier today, QB Sean Clifford was selected by the Green Bay Packers.

Now, the Jacksonville Jaguars select WR Parker Washington in the 6th round with the 185th pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He will join Brenton Strange down in Jacksonville.

Washington was a former 4-star recruit from the 2020 recruiting class. He made his presence known in one of the most abnormal seasons of college football. He started all 9 games in his true freshman season and never looked back.

During his Penn State football career, he had many highlight-worthy plays. This one is my favorite from the 2022 whiteout game against Minnesota.

Parker is listed at 5’10 according to the Penn State athletics official roster but he outplays his height. He can easily secure jump balls and he has the speed to break away from defenders after the catch.

This past season didn’t end up the way he was hoping for after he missed the final few games of the season due to injury. Due to this injury he did slip in the draft. However, when you look back on his Penn State football career he put up some massive numbers.

His career statistics include 146 receptions for 1920 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also returned punts during the 2022 season, showing his versatility on the field. After the 2022 season, he was selected to the Pro Football Focus All-Big Ten second team.

To me, Washington is the most dominant as a slot WR. His strengths are routes over the middle, contested catches, and yards after the catch. His best season with the Penn State football team came in 2021, where now Washington Commanders WR Jahan Dotson was the number one option on the team.

The best game of his career was against Ohio State this past season where he had 11 catches for 179 yards and 1 touchdown. It was an honor watching #3 go to work on Saturday’s and I cannot wait to watch his NFL career unfold.
