Kevin Winston Jr enters his sophomore season in 2023. He is a player that has taken advantage of the offseason. He appeared in 12 games last season but during the Blue-White game last weekend he showed his skill set.

I hate doing player comparisons but I am going to do one here. He reminds me of former Penn State football safety Marcus Allen. The way he attacks the ball carrier and his ability to lay the hit stick is really impressive.

In 2022, he accounted for 16 tackles most of them coming on special teams.

He has grown into the safety position over the offseason and it will be hard to imagine him not in the rotation at safety this season. I would love to see him in the box, or even in specific blitz packages just to get him on the field.

After watching the film on the Blue-White game, now Mann Diaz gets to scheme up a way of utilizing all 4 of these players. Keep an eye out for #21, he has the chance to be special at Penn State.

The other two names to keep an eye on over the new few years are redshirt freshman Mehki Flowers and redshirt junior Tyrece Mills as they will also push for playing time.

The safety room has a ton of depth this season and I am excited to see how Manny Diaz and Anthony Poindexter make the most of their talents.
