Penn State Wrestling: Levi Haines’ Must See Pin

Penn State Wrestling’s talented Levi Haines defies all odds with incredible comeback win to move to the semifinals in the 2023 NCAA Championships
Cael Sanderson and the Penn State Wrestling Team have asked a lot out of true freshman, Levi Haines. And by all accounts he has answered the call every step of the way.
When asked to fill in during the 2022 National Collegiate Duals against Central Michigan, North Carolina, and Iowa State, Haines happily obliged and tacked on a perfect 3-0 record for good measure.
Then in a difficult spot in the Nittany Lions’ first Bryce Jordan Center dual meet of the year against Michigan, Levi had the difficult task of taking on a ranked grappler in front of a packed house. Haines came through in thrilling fashion to pull out a 3-1 win in Sudden Victory.
In the next dual meet in the BJC against Penn State’s bitter rivals, the Iowa Hawkeyes, Levi Haines burned his redshirt, cemented himself into the starting lineup, and once again rolled a ranked grappler in front of the rowdy Nittany Lion fans.
Well the train is continuing to roll for Haines in the 2023 NCAA Wrestling Championships as he just punched his ticket to the semifinals at 157 by pinning Virginia Tech’s Bryce Andonian for an improbably comeback victory.
Levi was down 6-1 after the first period, but he whittled Andonian’s lead down to 7-6 going into the final period. And with less than a minute remaining in the third, Haines did this:
With the win, Levi Haines has assured himself of an All-American finish in the 2023 NCAA’s, and from what we’ve seen from him already, it’s not hard to see that they sky is absolutely the limit for this talented wrestler.
