1. Winning

Over the last seven seasons, Penn State has won 11 games four times with three New Year’s Six Bowl wins and a Big Ten Championship. That’s a lot of winning.

With that said, the Nittany Lions still haven’t been able to crack through to the ultimate goal, the College Football Playoff.

The main reason people point to as to why Penn State hasn’t reached the playoff is the quarterback position. Clifford was a quality quarterback who managed the offense well and kept his team in the game. But the truth is Penn State has not had that Heisman caliber quarterback in quite a while.

It’s not a coincidence that three of the four Heisman finalists this past year happened to be three of the four quarterbacks in the playoff.

Allar could be that guy for Penn State, he certainly has the arm talent to do so.

Clifford was able to take Penn State to two 11-win seasons and two New Year’s Six Bowl wins. If Allar goes off in 2023, the Nittany Lions should look at 11 wins as the floor for this season.

A big season from the quarterback will put Penn State Football in the playoff discussion.
