Penn State vs Northwestern Prediction

This is a classic strength vs. strength matchup, as the Nittany Lions’ excellent offense takes on Northwestern’s superb defense. They say defense wins championships, but scoring will win tonight’s game.

The chasm between these teams offensively is vast. Penn State ranks 10th nationally in effective field goal percentage (55.9%) while the Wildcats are 312th (47.5%). Northwestern struggles to hit shots and we saw that impact in Penn State’s victory last month, as the Wildcats shot just 36.7% from the field in a 67-60 loss.

Stylistically, the Nittany Lions seem to have Northwestern’s number. They’re 5-2 against the spread (ATS) in their last seven games against the Wildcats with six outright wins in that span.
